the "experts" were right

after talking with a young woman at whole earth who does a LOT of hiking as well as talking with one of my sons, i "climbed" more of the green belt today than walking the paths and they are right, the merrells that i thought i was taking on my trip are not the right shoes. d@mn!! but i'm glad i found out now and not on my first difficult hike on the road. whole earth ordered me two other pairs of shoes to try - they'll be in on tuesday - so i'll have to do a heck of a lot of hiking and "climbing" to break them in. at least my keene's and teva's are good - so i may have to stick to more level hikes at first, depending upon how much i can break in whatever the new pair will be.

it was a glorious day along the greenbelt today but also one of those days where i wish they made magic wands for moms.
